Con Report | Friday | Saturday | Sunday | Friends | Cast | Contact Me

Here's a little report to cover what went on at SG-7 (6th-8th Feb 2004)

Friday

Well my Dad and I set off from home around 9am and started our long bus journey to London.

When we arrived at the hotel we quickly checked in and dumped our stuff, and decided to go for a wander around the hotel, this is where I met Andy aka "Doofy" and some others including Ses, Meesh, Ruthie, Matti and finally Vicky and Chrissy.

The Meet and Greet was great. I was able to get every guest to play my Shocking Roulette game. Out of all the guests only Alex and Jill were shocked, and I can say that game is a real Ice-breaker. The funniest part however for me was when Teryl insisted on calling my Dad "Scotty" as he reminded her of him. This I can tell you made my dad a very proud man *lol*.

We decided to stay for the party, however we didn't stay that long as we were tired and wanted to save all our energy for Saturday night so we could really PARTY!!

The schedule for the Friday was:

15:00-20:30: Registration
20:00: Opening Ceremony.
Followed by Guest Meet & Greet
22:00-02:00: Party

Saturday

The Q & A's were kicked off by Alex Zahara, who enlightened us to the roles he had played in Stargate. These included Xe'ls (fish gills alien) in 'Spirits', Michael (the hippy) in '1969', Lead Alien in 'Foothold', the role of 2 Una's in 'Beast of Burden' (including the female Una's), Iron Shirt in 'Enemy Mine', Warrick 'Space Race' and also the model for the motion capture of Anubis' Foot Soldiers. So Alex has only been in the show a little bit over the last few years *LOL*.

Next was David Palfy, the evil Anubis (Mwhahahahahahahaha!!). I must say David is a very good looking man and almost indistinguishable from his characters of Sokar and Anubis. However his choice to look the way he does, especially his choice to stay bald has limited his roles to that of villans and terrorists, which as he has learn't has a knock on effect to real life. David told us how his son had told his teacher that his Dad was a terrorist for a living, and that his son's teacher wouldn't come anywhere near him *LOL*

Next was our surprise guest Jill Teed. I must say I didn't know much about Jill apart from her appearances in Stargate , Smallville and of course X-Men 2, but I must say she is MAD with a capital 'M'. She fitted really well with the theme of madness set by Teryl.

Next up was Steve, who played Major Coburn in 'Maternal Instinct' and 'The First Ones', however he was at the event representing Andromeda. I can't say much about this Q & A as I had to leave near the beginning to go for my Teryl photoshoot, all I can say is sorry Steve.

Next up was Ronny, and he was able to give us a little taster into what we had to look forward too that night with his band. I was pleasantly surprised at the performance of the band, and couldn't wait for the evening. However we had his Q & A's to go first. Ronny felt his best role and movie had been that of 'Deliverance' as it was his first time in front of a camera and it catapulted him into the spotlight. Ronny also told us that one of the joys of working on Stargate is that he gets to work with RDA, who is apparently a very giving person (which I think we can all agree with). However Ronny reminded us that his first love has to and will always be Music.

Next was the moment I had been waiting for...................TERYL!!!!!
God I think this woman is wonderful, and I have never heard bad word about her, and hopefully never will. She was so full of life and energy and had a laugh that was utterly contagious, which i think we all fed on. I must say I was very amused by the on going toilet joke (well done to the Tech Crew for the graphics) and how much fun Teryl was having going along with it. However the best moment for me was seeing the utter delight on not only our faces but Teryl's when she was announced as being one of the Guests for SG-8 along side the likes of Michael Shanks and Chris Judge, she was totally made up. However Teryl's Q & A's were soon over and it was time to get ready for the Country & Western Space Party.

The Fancy dress contest was before the party and I was impressed with the effort people had gone to make their costumes but my favs were the Wormhole Extreme guys, Skaara and the Unas. Well deserved winners!!!

At the party we were treated to a whole 90minutes of Ronny Cox and Friends, and I must say it wasn't enough!!! They were great, they exceeded all my expectations to the limit. Ronny's jokes kept us hooked especially the ice rink one and his tribute to the banjo was pure genius. Altogether now "a pizza hut...a pizza.....kentucky fried chicken and a.......pizza hut" But it was all over too soon and it was time for the Disco.

What fun I had doing all the old favs, YMCA, Time Warp, Macarena, Saturday Night and Tragedy. As well as some new ones such as Star Trekking and the Joe 90 theme. I can now honestly say that I am well and truly hooked.

The schedule for Saturday was:

9:30: Alex Zahara
10:15: David Palfy
11:00: Jill Teed
11:30: Steve Bacic
12:00: Break (sound-check)
13:30: Ronny Cox
14:30: Teryl Rothery
15:30: TBA
16:00: Video & book presentation
18:00: Close
19:30: Fancy Dress
Followed by An Evening with Ronny Cox & Friends
22:00-02:00: Country & Western Space Party

Sunday

Sunday was to me a day full of happiness, thanx, sadness and goodbyes.

I started the day by going down and getting a ticket to get into the hall, then went to brekfast whilst still trying to keep my eyes open.
(note to self not good idea trying to use a knife and fork with only 3 1/2 hours of sleep)

I then returned to my room to pack for the return trip home(Sob!!).

Then the fun continued at 9:30 with Steve Bacic. All I can say about this guy is that he is a big bundle of fun and mayhem, who can forget his version of Ronny's chant "BA.......CIC........SHHHH!!!"

Then the ever funny Alex Zahara joined Steve on stage because he was running over time.

Next we had the ever gorgeous Dion Johstone who was managing to survive with 3hours sleep and jet-lag, whilst being asked to do Una's impressions; poor guy!! However he was very open with us and told us some very personal details about himself, which I believe is very gracious of him, especially for his first con.

We then had the ever funny Alex Zahara return to join Dion on stage. Wow this guy was brilliant, he completely exceeded my expectations. Alex complemented Dions openess with some very touching comments, which escape me. It just goes to show how Stargate SG-1 is able to bring people together and make them true friends for many years. This includes the actors and us the fans, this makes me proud to call myself a fan of Stargate SG-1!!!!

Next up was Jill Teed. This wonderful woman continued to be as wacky and funny as she had been throughout the weekend. I enjoyed hearing about her screenplay, which included:
Jill Teed as "Princess Icky Body"
Teryl Rothery as "Love puppet"
Ronny Cox as "Lord Busy Body"
Alex Zahara as "Shape shifting alien"
Steve Bacic as "Lifeguard/waiter/masseur"
Dion Johnstone as "Tennis Player"
Patrick Stewart as "Father"
The mention of Patrick Stewart got into a big debate about the faithfulness of the Love Puppet Character to Jill's Character, this kept us going for ages, and was some of the funniest things I had heard.

Jill was followed by the ever wonderful and giving Teryl Rothery. Teryl was very funny in every question she answered. My fav part of Sunday's chat was when someone's phone went off (I think it was Rosemary's) and Teryl decided to have a 1:1:800 odd chat. This was also followed by the ever wonderful question of Teryl doing a Calendar "Calandar girl" style with other Stragate/Sci-Fi women for charity. Which prompted Teryl to nick someones Iced cakes.

After Teryl the ever anticipated Auction followed. On offer this con was a Poster of SG-1 which included Richad Dean Anderson's signiture this went for alot of £'s and I believe it went to Inspired Looney. Followed by some smaller posters, which didn't make nearly as much (I wonder why?!?!?!). Then came the Daniel Jackson t-shirts, which were the last ones avaliable (oh no!!). The individual photos complete with a variety of sci-fi signitures where next. Then came the best bit of all Teryl in the Royal Air Force flight suit. The ensuing events are best seen in the pics on the "Sunday" page *lol*.

After the fun and excitement of the Auction we were treated to some more of David Palfy. He enlightened us to his motivation behind what makes him take his acting roles and to what lengths he would and wouldn't go.

Ronny followed David, and I must say since his outstanding performance on Saturday night you could not removed the fixed grin from his face. I felt honoured to listen to his music and to his very devilish humour.

Then came the time for the closing ceremony :(
This was the part of the weekend I didn't want to end, at all!!
We cheered and clapped till our hands hurt for all the Guests and then we thanked Bryan with a lovely standing ovation, which he well deserved. What a wonderful man he is!!!

Following on from the closing ceremony, I still needed to wait for my turn in the autograph room so i waited until my ticket number was called and made my way over.

The room was packed but everyone was lined up nicely so we could all move round easily. My first stop was Ronny, who was surviving the signings with a latte. He signed his name on my poster. Next was Dion who was doing well on 3 hours sleep and jet-lag and signed my poster 'For Claire Dion Johnstone'. Then there was Jill, who was desperate for a pee but kept going, and signed my poster 'To Claire all the best Jill Teed'. Then there was David who signed my poster 'To Claire David Palfy'. Next came my saviour of the day Steve. I asked him how he was feeling and he returned my question, to which I replied "very tired" so being a true gent he gave me his can of Red Bull which kept me going for the rest of the evening, Thank You Steve xxx. He also signed my poster saying 'For Claire Keep smiling love Steve Bacic'. Then came Alex who signed my poster and photo 'To Claire xox A Zahara' And last but not least came Teryl, the Eveready bunny herself. She signed both my poster and photo 'To Claire xxx Teryl'

My day was made complete up to that point until I realised I had to say goodbye to my friends :(

So we had a lovely group picture taken which is on the "Friends" page and said our fond fair wells.

My God I so didn't want this weekend to end but hey all fun must come to end sometime. So all that is left to say is roll on SG-8!!!!!!!
